Basic Alarms [combined bells only and telephone]
Bells-only systems will trigger an alarm and notify you within the property only typically via an internal sounder and external siren. They can only be controlled from within the property as they are offline solutions. These systems may have a professional maintenance agreement attached to them.
Telephone Only Systems will trigger an alarm and notify you typically within the property via an internal sounder and external siren. In addition, they will dial and even send you a text message via your telephone line to a given number e.g. your mobile phone. You may even control such systems with basic command remotely. In terms of technology, remote communication would typically either be via landline or a GSM (mobile) connection. These systems may have a professional maintenance agreement attached to them as well as signalling to a third party such as an Alarm Receiving Centre and the police.
Smart Alarms
These systems will trigger an alarm and notify you typically within the property via an internal sounder and external siren. This type of system communicates remotely via the internet and generally to Apps or to third parties such as Alarm Receiving Centres and the police, so you would be notified via these also in the event of the alarm triggering. These types of system allow the greatest control over the system from anywhere and can be much more convenient and user-friendly to use than other types of Security Alarm.
Home Automation Security Alarms
A new and emerging type of solution involves combining Security Alarms with Home Automation. This means, for example, when the alarm is triggered, curtains or blinds might automatically open and all the lights will turn on to expose potential intruders inside the property. This and many more scenarios can be created through such systems while still maintaining the features of any other Security System.
